We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead packaging development projects across our Platforms, working with renowned brands like Oscar Mayer, Kraft, Maxwell House, Kool Aid, and many others!

As a Packaging Scientist, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation, renovation, and maintenance of packaging, enabling growth and ensuring quality objectives and business continuity for Kraft Heinz. From crafting and performing tests to analyzing data, presenting results cross-functionally, and commercializing pipeline opportunities, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our packaging solutions.

What's on the menu?

  • Lead packaging development projects from concept to commercialization, driving the execution of ongoing business results and broadening the innovation pipeline.
  • Act as the packaging lead, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution across multiple projects.
  • Simultaneously lead multiple projects with complex scopes, demonstrating exceptional project management skills.
  • Provide support for general brand maintenance to ensure business continuity across multiple categories as needed.
  • Collaborate with technical authorities, US/Category packaging scientists, and leverage technologies and applications.
  • Manage technical timelines, communicate effectively, identify and address issues and risks, and develop contingency plans.
  • Conduct lab tests, pilot plant trials, and large-scale tests to optimize packaging performance within manufacturing facilities.
  • Write detailed specifications to ensure consistent, high-quality products.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields.
  • A solid background in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG)/Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry or a comparable field, with Packaging expertise in a relevant category.
  • Exceptional teamwork skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • In-depth understanding of packaging material interactions and functionality.
  • Demonstrated executional excellence and personal leadership.
  • Highly motivated problem solver with a drive to achieve objectives in a complex environment.
  • Ability to plan and execute well-thought-out design experiments, anticipate next steps, and adjust course when facing challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding prioritization and project management abilities.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new materials and processes rapidly.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% within the United States and Canada, visiting internal plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers.
