Airworthiness Certification Group Head Iin GAC Appleton


Unique Skills:

1. Provide supervision, assignments, and guidance to team of interior completions certification engineers who:
a. Create Certification Plans / Project Notification letters
b. Collect, review, and provide input if changes are required for FAA Form 8100-9 for

STC/TC/MRA projects

c. Create Summary Compliance Reports and Compliance Checklists for STC/TC/MRA

projects.
d. Create validation packages for foreign certification activities, as required
e. Approve data in AR capacity
2. Assist engineering management/ ODA / and configuration management on certification questions and direction
3. Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving procedural issues that may impact the schedule of aircraft STC/TC/MRA issuance.
4. Actively work to improve the department processes and ensures all work meets customer and regulatory requirements and expectations.
5. Maintain a current and up-to-date knowledge in the field

Required Skills:

1. Must be proficient in working with MS Office software.
2. Experience in working with regulatory requirements.
3. Must possess excellent attention to detail and display the ability to effectively adjust to changing engineering practices and procedures.
4. Must have excellent organizational and planning skills.
5. Must have experience developing and leading a team of people with diverse experience and backgrounds.
6. Must have a proven track record of positive leadership in a fast paced, dynamic environment where priorities shift often.


Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 10 years Engineering experience. 5 years specific technical discipline. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 yrs with Masters, 4 yrs with PhD in fields applicable to this job. 1 year supervisory or broad managerial responsibility.

Position Purpose:

Supervises a group of engineering employees within a similar discipline responsible for task and objective assignments. Utilizing diversified knowledge and engineering experience, provides direction to subordinate employees, administers performance standards, schedules and budgets.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Develops and evaluates plans for projects and activities; assesses technical feasibility and soundness of proposed analysis, tests, or concepts being applied.
  2. Provides direct supervision of employees of similar expertise for a large project or a number of small projects.
  3. Communicates performance expectations, salary administration, and conducts performance appraisals.
  4. Responsible for establishing and executing objectives that support short term goals.
  5. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods; represents the organization to resolve important issues and to plan and coordinate work.
  6. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings concerning specific projects.
  7. Acts as an advisor to subordinate leads or staff members.
  8. Actively participates in daily operations as required. to meet schedules and resolve issues.

Additional Functions:
  1. May recommend modifications to operating policies. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

  1. The level of managerial skills and abilities appropriate for this grade may be established by each discipline.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain the cooperation of others.
